Keanu Reeves Talks Possible Bill & Ted Sequel

Christmas may have come early this year. It’s been more than 20 years since Keanu Reeves played a high school slacker traveling through time in a phone booth and it appears as if there may be life in another movie in the ‘Bill & Ted’ series. In 1989, Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure hit theaters to the delight of Generation Xers across the country. Two years later they followed up with a flop of a sequel entitled Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey and thus we thought Bill and Ted were…. dead.

According to Keanu Reeves that may not be the case – “I’m open to the idea of that,” Reeves said on the Today show on Monday. “I think it’s pretty surreal, playing ‘Bill & Ted’ at 50. But we have a good story in that. You can see the life and joy in those characters, and I think the world can always use some life and joy. Yeah, there’s a story; there’s a script. We’re trying to get the dough together to make this crazy story.”

Which leads us to our next question: where the heck is Alex Winter a.k.a Ted. Regardless of the reception of the film, this would be Alex Winter’s biggest role since, well, the last ‘Bill & Ted’ movie. He’s been sporadically acting for the past 20 years included hiatuses of 8 and 3 years in that time. Personally, I’m very curious to see how this plays out.
