Zac Efron wears HUGO Man Eau de Toilette cologne by Hugo Boss. He became the face of the cologne in 2016 when he signed a deal with the fashion brand. Efron has said that his favorite smell is something light that reminds him of the ocean and surfing.

Hugo Man by Hugo Boss
Since Zac Efron has become more and more of an outdoors enthusiast along with his heavy involvement in different humanitarian projects, it is slightly surprising that he wears a cologne made by a fashion designer. Yet, he is the face of Hugo Man by Hugo Boss.
Efron landed the deal with the designer brand in 2016 to be the face of their Hugo Man campaign that launched in 2017. The slogan for the campaign was “Your Time Is Now” and featured Efron in a white t-shirt, navy blue sports coat, black jeans, complete with white tennis shoes.
His look in the ads shied away from Hugo Boss’ more classic use of men in different suits supporting the fragrance. Of course, it is more up Zac Efron’s alley to be in more casual clothes than a suit and tie.
As for their fragrance, Hugo Man Eau de Toilette by Hugo Boss was originally released back in 1995. The nose behind the fragrance is Bob Aliano.
Although Bob Aliano is now retired, he actually began his career as a perfumer with Revlon in the 1970s. He then collaborated with a few different designers that included Hugo Boss. He was the nose behind Hugo by Karim Rashid, Hugo Create Limited Edition, and Hugo Spray.
Hugo Man Eau de Toilette is an aromatic green fragrance. It has the top notes of green apple, grapefruit, mint, basil, and lavender with a heart of carnation, jasmine, geranium, and sage. At its base, it features notes of cedar, patchouli, and fir.

Zac Efron’s Favorite Scents
In 2016, after it was announced that Efron would be the new face of Hugo Man, we benefited from him doing a lot of interviews about his favorite things. One great interview was with The Perfume Shop.
In the interview, Zac Efron revealed that he likes the summer best, he sings in the shower, and he’ll pick a salad over a burger. He also said that his favorite emoji is the winking face with its tongue out and that he doesn’t have any fears.
Interviewers went on to ask Efron if he had a signature scent that he used in the past and he said that Hugo Man has always been the cologne he uses. As for his favorite smell in the world, he said “I’m drawn to fresh fragrances, and my favorite is the smell of the sea – it reminds me of my love of surfing.”
Zac Efron was also asked if he felt a fragrance could boost his confidence. He responded “Wearing fragrance is the ultimate confidence boost. If you know you smell good and wear a fragrance that matches your mindset, you’re ready to face anything.”
This interview also revealed that Zac Efron was going to be promoting another one of Hugo Boss’ fragrances called Hugo Iced. Iced was launched in 2017 and Efron went to Dubai to promote the fragrance.
He noted that the Iced cologne was an even more refreshing version of the Hugo Man fragrance. It is a lot more basic using fewer notes than the Hugo Man fragrance and features top notes of tea and mint, middle notes of bitter orange and juniper, and a base note of vetiver.
It has been referred to as an Aquatic Aromatic cologne which may have been a bit more up Efron’s alley considering he likes the smell of the ocean. However, he seems to be sticking to Hugo Man as his go-to cologne.
